Moderating a healthcare debate between former Speaker Newt Gingrich and Senator Barbara Boxer was an absolute bucket list moment for me! The debate was held at the annual convention for AHIMA, a professional association for individuals working in healthcare information management. I was asked to facilitate a point, counter-point discussion between the two former colleagues for the attendees. We focused on Obamacare and the current challenges Republicans are facing in their attempts to repeal and replace it. The opioid epidemic, soaring costs of pharmaceutical drugs and unstable insurance exchanges under the ACA also become points of conversation. But neither Boxer nor Gingrich are running for reelection so that allowed for a more relaxed vibe and a refreshing show of bipartisanship. It was a true honor to share the stage with these political giants.

And thank you to Natalie Chapman for ensuring I looked the part!
